## Description

Gold Bars are smelted from [Gold Ore](/Items/Ores/GoldOre) with [Coal Ore](/Items/Ores/CoalOre) as fuel. At 150 XP per bar they are by far the best Smelting experience in the game, and the main reason players push Mining to level 10 and head into the [Qabar Mines](/About/World).

Blacksmiths value it for the skill gain more than the metal — gold is too soft for tool heads.

## Uses

Gold Bar is used in:

- Levelling Smelting — 150 XP per bar, the highest of any smelt
- Future jewellery and decoration recipes

> **Note:** Gold Bars have no tool recipe in the current build.

- A Gold Bar takes 8.0s to smelt, twice as long as an [Iron Bar](/Items/Ingots/IronBar), but pays nearly four times the XP.
